博碩士論文： 「平埔客」之歷史探究：以道卡斯竹塹社廖姓為對象=The Study of the “Ping-pu Hakkanese”︰A Case Study of the Laio Family of the Taokas Tribe in the Chuktsam Settlement
摘要：台灣由移墾社會進入到土著化（indigenization）的過程中，平埔族群同時也在進行著漢化，這一文化融合的歷史過程，是台灣十八至十九世紀的重要現象。隨著對客家、平埔族群的研究越來越興盛，我們對族群融合過程的了解也越來越渴望，本研究擬透過道卡斯（Taokas）竹塹社中的廖姓家族歷史探究，理解其「客家化」成為「平埔客」的歷史過程與漢化內涵。近年平埔族研究方興未艾，對竹塹社向來缺乏較深入的了解，直至一九九三年以後，張炎憲、王世慶和李季樺等學者對竹塹社祭祀公業、錢姓、衛姓家族做了突破性的史料蒐集和調查研究，才開始對竹塹社有更進一步的認識，但是對其中的廖姓卻始終受限於史料的闕如而缺乏進一步探考，且廖姓漢化的程度更深，早已融入客家族群當中，成為客家社會的一部分，因此更值得關注其家族的歷史過程。本文探索竹塹社廖姓家族歷史變遷，相較於其他竹塹社的研究，有別於許多學者的史學外部視野，本研究提供的是一種史學的內部視野，以時間為軸線，廖姓之家族變遷為命題聚焦，著眼於平埔家族、社群變遷的過程，以及這些變遷與歷史、社會環境變化的環扣關係，透過廖姓的觀察，裨能對今天客家族群中之「平埔客」能獲得更多的認識與了解。 During the 18-19 century, Taiwan was transforming from the immigration-cultivation to indigenization society. At the same time the Ping-pu tribe was being assimilated by the Han Chinese. The infusion between the two cultures was proven to be significant in the Taiwan’s history. The more studies on the sinolization of the Ping-pu, the more demands on this topic. This thesis intends to understand the history and the process of the Ping-pu assimilated by the Hakka by examing the Liao Family of the Taokas Tribe in the Chuktsam Settlement. There are some researches on the Ping-pu history recently, though, little were stress on the Chuktsam Settlement. In 1993 the ground-breaking studies of Chang, Wang and Li on the worship-ritual Kung-yeh, Chien and Wei Family brought focus on this topic. However, the history of the Liao Family, which was further integrated into the Hakkanese society, was not revealed due to lack of records. Differ from the other Chuktsam Settlement studies, which look at the history with extroversive field view, this research provides the Liao Family history chronically with introversive field view.
